An estimated 30 million euros worth of damage was caused in Marbella by the heavy rain on December 4th. Much of this was along the coast of the town, where the mouths of rivers and streams couldn't cope with the amount of water pouring out of them. In a bid to permanently solve the problem, Marbella council has started to introduce flood relief measures. In the Casablanca area, the seafront walkway has been cut off while workers create extra water channels into the sea for the Arroyo de Las Cañas stream.
