It's been a good few weeks for Antonio Banderas. Coming straight after the sellout launch of his new theatre in Malaga, the Teatro Soho Caixabank, earlier this month, the locally born Hollywood actor has been awarded two top prizes. In addition, his latest film has picked up a prestigious accolade from Time Magazine.

On Monday, Banderas was in Madrid to collect the award for most influential personality of 2019, awarded by the Spanish edition of Vanity Fair.

The actor was joined by his daughter, Stella del Carmen, and his girlfriend, businesswoman Nicole Kimpel.

Meanwhile, next Monday, 2 December, Banderas will receive a SUR prize for Malaga personality of the year in the Culture category at a special ceremony organised by the newspaper group.

Time magazine's film critic Stephanie Zacharek, has given the Malaga star the accolade of Best Movie Performance 2019 for his work in Pedro Almodóvar's Pain and Glory.

She said he "gave an aching unguarded performance".

The film and Banderas himself are tipped for Oscar success early next year.
