Around 50 people attended a meeting to launch a new University of the Third Age (U3A) group recently at La Viñuela restaurant.
La Viñuela councillor Ria O'Brien said, "We had a very successful launch despite the inclement weather."
She explained that the U3A president for the Axarquia region, Terry Brady, along with existing members from clubs on the coast attended "to support the new venture in the Viñuela area".
The next meeting will take place on 3 December and Ria explained that groups will be formed after that, but so far there has been interest in a book club and 'lunch bunch' as well as groups for art, sewing, Spanish conversation, health and well being, meditation and general discussion.
"And many more to come," she added.
For further information about the next meeting and about joining any of the groups contact Ria on 667 966 884.
