Members of La Cala de Mijas Lions club recently handed over a cheque for 1,000 euros to the Knitted Knockers association. The funds will go towards extending the knitting workshops along the Costa del Sol and providing kits to hospitals.
The knitters, who currently meet once a week in the offices of the Spanish cancer association AECC in Los Boliches, produce soft breast prostheses for women who have undergone mastectomies or other procedures to the breast.
The presentation was attended by the vice-president of the AECC in Fuengirola, Paloma Gómez Díaz, the president of Knitted Knockers, Maria Bailey, among other representatives.
La Cala de Mijas Lions are currently preparing for their Christmas Party at Treetops Restaurant on Saturday 14 December. Further details of this and other events can be obtained from the Lions Charity Shop in Calle Torremolinos, La Cala de Mijas or telephone 637 185 533.
