The flu vaccination campaign for this year has already begun and some 1,370,656 vaccines will be administered, a 15 per cent increase on last year, which comes at a cost of 3.7 million euros.
For the first time this year, children between six months and two years born prematurely, people with coagulation disorders and pharmacy staff have been added to the list of those to be vaccinated, alongside pregnant women, people with immunosuppressive conditions and the over 65s.
In the province of Malaga the Health authority plans to administer 218,000 flu vaccines at 202 health centres and hospitals.
The Health authority has set up a publicity campaign to encourage residents eligible for a flu jab to go to their health centres and to advise the general public on ways to help prevent the illness.
