Age Concern
Summer charity concert
The Age Concern Summer Concert was held last Saturday at the Restaurante Valparaíso in Mijas. Nearly 250 people attended the annual event at which the Jersey Boys supplied the entertainment. The guests enjoyed a three-course meal and the event raised 2,500 euros for the charity which helps to fight the loneliness and isolation felt by older people.

Asociación Gatos de Manilva
Furry fundraiser
A charity fundraiser at a popular expat restaurant raised almost 4,000 euros for a cat charity in Manilva last Monday, Ash Bolton reports.
Some 150 guests helped raise the funds for the Asociación Gatos de Manilva (AGDM) during the event at the Roman Oasis restaurant in Sabinillas.
The restaurant shut down last summer after 36 years but reopened for two charity events this month.
Englishman Paul Hickling, 74, who opened the restaurant in 1983 after visiting the Roman baths in Sabinillas, told SUR in English:
"It was the very last night of the Roman Oasis restaurant and it went out with a bang! A fitting way to end 37 years of its life and we are very proud to have raised so much money for charity."
Amanda Kiff, President of the AGDM, said: "We are overwhelmed beyond belief at the incredible generosity of the local business owners and the gifts donated. The amazing guests last night were extremely generous."
The AGDM helps to look after the street cats of Manilva and the money raised will help feed and care for the local cats that are rescued.
