Before their summer break, the Lions Club La Cala de Mijas visited the Encina Laura centre in Alhaurín de la Torre. The aim of the Encina Laura centre is to help the social integration of adults with intellectual disabilities and to assist in their personal development.
The Lions have been supporting Encina Laura for over 12 years and currently one of the Lions club members, Julie Barry, has been teaching them tap dancing.
At the end of the visit, which included a tap dancing performance by the students, the Lions presented a cheque for 3,035 euros to the president of the association. The money will help towards ballet classes and to purchase computer equipment.
