1st Fuengirola Scouts
As part of their end-of-year activities members of 1st Fuengirola Scout Group went on a bike ride around the Guadalhorce nature reserve and stopped off at the hides to watch some of the birds. They also enjoyed a fish and chip supper followed by the presentation of the Chief Scout Gold Award to one member.
Meanwhile the group's youngest members, the Cubs and Beavers, went on their annual mystery trip, this year arriving at Benalmádena Selwo Marina. They were given a guided tour of the marina and watched as the dolphins performed jumps in the pool. The Cubs had their end-of-year celebration on the beach with a variety of water games followed by a BBQ. The Chief Scout Silver Award was presented to two of the Cubs. The young group's final trip was to the Lego exhibition in Malaga.

RBL Mollina Branch
Armed Forces Day
The 10th annual Armed Forces Day event held recently incorporated a 'Better Together' event in commemoration of MP Jo Cox who was murdered in 2016. The Jo Cox foundation and the RBL have formed a partnership to combat loneliness and 46 members of the Mollina branch signed the pledge. A programme of activities organised by David and Heather Grey and aided by a team of helpers raised almost 600 euros for the Poppy Appeal. The Christine Watson Memorial Trophy was this year presented to Neil Hollow, winner of the photographic competition for his picture from last year's Torre del Mar Air Show.

The British consul for Andalucía Charmaine Arbouin joined her counterparts from Alicante and Catalonia (Sarah-Jane Morris and Lloyd Milen) at a Pride party held at the British ambassador Simon Manley's residence in Madrid. Among the 250 guests who attended the event was the Minister for Justice Dolores Delgado who said, "We must continue to fight to overcome discrimination, prejudice and fanatical hate discourse" which, as she pointed out, "far from disappearing, seem to have intensified".
