The initiative to make use of the olives on the trees growing on the Teatinos campus of Malaga University resulted in a harvest of 275 kilogrammes collected by the students and teachers.

It was turned into 42 litres of 'Aceite UMA' at the Ayala mill in Mijas, one of the few remaining olive mills in the province that uses traditional machinery to extract the oil.
