The Costa Press Club presented the Unicaja Communicator awards last week at a dinner at the Tamisa Golf Hotel in Mijas. The awards, each consisting of 300 euros and a trophy, went to Peter Edgerton, Stefania van Lieshout, Georgina Oliver and Mark Nayler.

Master of ceremonies Neil Hesketh mentioned innovations this year, which included different categories for the awards, changes made to allow for work to be submitted in languages other than English, and sponsorship by Unicaja. He also thanked Artenovum for designing and donating the trophies.

On behalf of Unicaja, area director Paco Reguera spoke of his satisfaction at being able to participate in the event and said that the international community "deserves all our support".

The awards were presented to the winners by Paco Reguera, Eva María Ramada, manager of the Unicaja branch in Las Lagunas, Regina Gómez of the Benalmádena Costa branch, and Jesper Sander Pedersen, president of the Costa Press Club.

A "Young Communicator" award of 150 euros was won by former English International College student Danny Al-Khafaji, who is now studying at King's College London.
