Walking Football Spain (WFS) hosted Athletico Blackthorne from Essex in a walking football tournament played in the sports centre in Benalmádena Pueblo on Saturday.

Each club fielded three teams ranging in age from 50 to 74 and with mixed ability.

Nine games were played with the visitors claiming first and second place in the final league table.

WFS's best side were the Marbella branch who finished third and were the tournament's highest scorers with six goals.

Matches were keenly-contested, as the stats show, with draws aplenty as defences and goalkeepers were on top form.

Refreshments were served afterwards in Bar Olivia, part of the sports complex.

Anyone over 50 who is interested in playing walking football should consult the website ( for further information about training and matches.
