To mark its 15th anniversary, the Picasso Museum is planning special shows and activities, beginning with 'El sur de Picasso. Referencias andaluzas', an exhibition which starts on 9 October and coincides with the IV International Picasso Congress, which brings together 160 experts and collectors of the artist's work. The congress begins on the same day and continues until 11 October.
These initiatives are sponsored by the Unicaja Foundation, the Almine Foundation and FABA in collaboration with the French Embassy.
The exhibition at the MPM will include 100 of Picasso's works which are associated with southern Spain, the Mediterranean and the artist's Malaga origins. Visitors will also be able to see works by grand masters from earlier and later periods, such as Velázquez, Zurbarán, Goya, Murillo, María Blanchard and Juan Gris, among others.
The congress is on the theme of 'Picasso and History', and will feature historic events which inspired some of his works.
