Royal British Legion Mollina branch

Car treasure hunt

The annual RBL Mollina car treasure hunt on 7 October gave participants a flavour of the life of the last Andalusian bandit, taking the cars through the towns of Alameda, Corcoya, Badolatosa and Puente Genil on the Ruta del Tempranillo. The winning team was 'Corann' and they were presented with the trophy by Steve Taylor. The event raised 317 euros for the Poppy Appeal.

Tea dance

RBL Mollina branch took to the floor to launch its 2018/19 season with a tea dance led by Paul and Fiona Smyth. Prior to their move to Spain, Paul and Fiona learned ballroom dancing and after many requests they have agreed to pass their skill to others. Classes are held every Tuesday afternoon at 2pm at Parque La Vina, Mollina.

The classes will follow on from the RBL social meetings which start at 11am. Events organiser David Grey would like to hear from anyone who may have a talent they would like to share. Contact him by email: midad@mail.uk

Shutterbugs photo club

Say 'cheese'

The El Pastor del Valle goat's cheese factory in Alhaurín El Grande was the latest destination for a Shutterbugs photo shoot. Members were greeted by owner Pepi Burgos and were shown how the international award-winning cheeses were made and how they were stored and packaged. After being allowed to take photographs they were treated to a tasting of the various cheeses.

The Shutterbugs group then drove five kilometres to see the goat farm where they took photos of milking machinery and the herd.

International Club Estepona

ICE-cool open day

October is a busy month for the International Club of Estepona, with the Golf Autumn Cup, the monthly quiz night and all the other regular activities - rambling, treasure hunts, trips and more.

ICE will be opening the doors of its clubhouse in Urb. Bahía Dorada on Sunday 14 October between 12.30 and 2pm for a free open day when members of the public can drop in for a drink and find out more. Everyone is welcome to join but it helps if you speak English. Saturday 3 November will be a special day for ICE as it is the club's 30th birthday and to celebrate members are going to El Monasterio at San Martín. Then there's an ICE Players drama production, an autumn/Christmas fair, and a trip to see the chocolate nativity in Rute, Cordoba. In December they have arranged to go to see the Christmas lights in Malaga and as well as a carol concert and the annual Christmas lunch. Contact: www.siberme.com
