Funds from the Masons
Age Care president Syd Weldon and vice president Tom Tarr were delighted to accept a donation of 1,100 euros from the Masons in Calahonda. The fundraising event specifically for Age Care Association was organised by David Bett, the Worshipful Master of the Gemini Masonic Lodge 51, which meets at Club La Naranja.

Singing in church
TIMS (The International Music Society) choir recently performed for the Anglican Chaplaincy of St Andrew's, at the cemetery chapel in Alhaurín el Grande. The choir sang four pieces of music throughout the service. The choir is always looking to welcome new members. Rehearsals also take place at 7pm every Wednesday in St Andrew's church hall, Avenida Jesús Santos Rein, Los Boliches. La Cala Lions Club
Donation to a school
La Cala de Mijas Lions Club presented the secondary school in La Cala with a cheque for 1506 euros to enable them to purchase much-needed books and sports equipment. The school has also benefited from earlier generosity of the Lions who are keen to help further the education and development of pupils. The presentation was made to staff and pupils by the president of the Lions, Julie Barry, who was accompanied by vice president Maggie Bobowicz and several other members of the charity. The Lions 20th Anniversary Summer Ball and Charter Night takes place this evening, 8 June.
A Touch of Class entertains
The Tamisa Golf hotel was the venue for the recent Age Concern Fuengirola and Mijas charity concert. The audience was entertained by the singers from A Touch of Class, who regularly perform at fundraising events along the Costa del Sol. Funds raised from the concert and the raffle will go towards the work of the association to improve the lives of older members of the expat community. Art for animals
Adana held its second Day of Art and Entertainment recently in La Duquesa castle. Local artists took their work to display and sell and entertainment was provided by a troupe of Brazilian dancers, a local choir and a musician. The event attracted more than 200 people who enjoyed refreshments as well as the entertainment. All proceeds go towards the care of the dogs at the Adana shelter in Estepona.
