An intrepid group of walkers raised more than 3,000 euros, after completing a sponsored hike through the Coín mountains. The fundraising walk was organised by the Coín-based inland hiking group, Al's Ramblers.

This was the third year the group has organised a sponsored walk and the hikers had two routes to choose from. More than 20 serious hikers embarked on a 19-kilometre route that began in the Los Llanos area of Coín and continued inland to the countryside surrounding Cerro La Alfaguara. Another 40 walkers participated in the less demanding five-kilometre route, which took them through the stunning Los Llanos woods on the outskirts of Coín.

The ramblers' individual sponsorship money was boosted by an after-walk picnic and raffle, which added another 270 euros to the total. The money will be divided equally between animal charities SOS, AID and ARCH, as well as Cudeca. The group's leader, Alan Nichols, said, “It was, as always, a great effort by everyone. In the past two years we have contributed almost 20,000 to local charities.”
