Links between deafness and diabetes to be discussed at support group

  • The organisers will be offering free tests during the morning

Diabetics, relatives and anyone interested in learning more about the condition have been invited to attend this week's meeting of the Diabetic Support Group run by La Cala Lions Club.

The meeting, which takes place today, Friday January 26th at 10.30am at Hogar, Calle Paloma, Fuengirola, includes a talk by Alfonso Sánchez, senior audiologist at Sontec Hearing Centres.

Sánchez will speak about the links between deafness and diabetes and possibly even Alzheimer's.

He will also be offering free tests during the morning.

The usual medical volunteers will be on hand to provide advice and information, and nurse practitioner Finola, along with a nurse from Angels Nursing, will be taking blood pressures and the usual diabetes glucose checks - HbA1c.
