Rosaceae is one of the most economically important of the plant families.

It is the rose family but isn't just all ornamental roses.

The family also includes apples, pears, quinces, loquats, almonds, peaches, apricots, plums, cherries, strawberries, raspberries and more.

The family is huge, consisting of herbs, shrubs and trees and is distributed across most of the planet.

Almost half of the genera are native to East Asia, Europe and North America.

The largest of these genera, which amounts to around 110, is Rubus (blackberries and other brambles, raspberries etc), Spiraea, Rosa (the true rose), Crataegus (hawthorn) and Prunus (almond, plum, peach etc).
