4 PAWS New Year 's Day Swim

A New Year's Day dip in the sea attracted a large following to raise money for 4 PAWS Adoptions, a charity to help re-home animals here and overseas. This year was the 12th time the event has been held and this time it was at the Restaurant La Videra on the Paseo Marítimo in Los Boliches.

The sea was perfectly calm for the event as divers from Into The Blue diving school and swimmers took to the water. Hundreds of spectators went along to watch from the shore and there was a raffle and barbecue.

The 'Three Mermaids', Sheila, Sue and Tcherina, performed water dances in fancy dress and Stacey Lloyd, who has organised the swim for 12 years, also went in for a dip.

The 4 PAWS Adoptions team thanked La Videra and everyone who made this event a success.

Royal British Legion

Mince pies and sherry

Around fifty members and guests of the Coín Branch of the Royal British Legion celebrated their last function of the season with mince pies and sherry at La Parilla de Pepe on 20 December. The Fuengirola show group, 'A Touch of Class' started the morning with songs from famous shows and finished with a seasonal rendition of the Twelve Days of Christmas. The chairman of the branch, Jo Taylor, thanked them for making the Christmas social meeting so memorable.

RBL Coín is now starting its programme of events for 2018, details of which can be found at http://www.coinrbl.info/.
