The MarbellAyuda association is entrusting children in local schools with the design of the walls of the rooms in the Costa del Sol Hospital paediatric ward. The project is part of an agreement signed by the hospital which involves a series of schemes aiming to make the hospital more pleasant and fun for younger inpatients while they have to stay in the paediatric ward.

The non-governmental non-profit association has created a painting competition which is open to all schools, public or private, in Manilva, Casares, Estepona, Benahavís, Marbella, Istán, Ojén, Mijas, and Fuengirola. The artwork is to be designed on the basis that the work reflects childhood with fun colours and motifs which warm your heart, the design needs to seem energetic, joyful, and colourful. The final goal is to improve young people's hospital stays, making the wards a welcoming place for them. Entrants can use any technique that they want, remembering that it is not the technique that really counts, but the originality and quality of the design. The organisers stress that they will not be accepting any work that includes themes of violence or social exclusion.

The designs must be carried out on rigid A0 white card. Those who wish to participate can sign up in any of the town halls in the named towns or by contacting MarbellAyuda on jperezbenedi@ telefonica.net.

Once all the artworks have been received, a jury made up of members of MarbellAyuda, benefactors of the project, local councillors and art experts will pick the best one. The top three will receive prizes of 400, 250, and 150 euros. The chosen works will be used to decorate the paediatric ward at the hospital.
