Male singers wanted

The International Music Society, known as T.I.M.S. has an extensive repertoire covering a wide range of music. The Fuengirola-based choir is a four part harmony choir that has been singing on the Costa del since it was formed in 1988. They are always looking for new members, especially male voices. Age Care

Raising money for Cudeca

Voluteers at the Age Care shop in El Zoco, Calahonda, have presented a cheque for 10,000 euros to Cudeca representative Susan Hannam. The Age Care charity shop is open Monday to Friday from 10am until 4pm and welcomes any donations. The shop sells men's and women's clothing, bric-a-brac, shoes, accessories, pictures, golf equipment and books among many other items.

Collegium Musicum

Choir and orchestra

After a summer break the Choir and Orchestra Collegium Musicum have started their rehearsals for their Christmas concerts in December.

The Collegium Musicum choir and orchestra members are passionate about making music and welcome new members.

The new season has just started and Christmas concerts will be performed in December in Fuengirola and Marbella. Rehearsals take place every Tuesday evening in Los Boliches, Fuengirola. Costa Press Club

Olive oil and wine tasting

In their first meeting after the summer break, members of the Costa Press Club enjoyed a presentation of the 'Sabor a Málaga' brand, which is promoted by the provincial authority the Diputación, followed by a tasting session.

Jacobo Florido Gómez, the provincial government's delegate in charge of economic and production development, explained the work carried out both in Spain and abroad to promote Malaga produce and gastronomy and answered the many questions posed by the international media.

Representatives of the Bodega Cortijo de la Fuente and of Aceites Molisur then provided an olive oil and wine tasting experience.

The meeting was held in the historic 'Térmica' building in Malaga and was followed by networking and further sampling of the local gastronomy at the Vincci Málaga.

Salon Varietés

Auditions for Christmas show

Auditions will take place at the Salon Varietés Theatre, Fuengirola on Sunday 8 October from 11am until 2pm for Mistletoe and Wine, this year's Christmas show which will take place from 1 to 5 December. David Vincent, the director, is looking for performers of all ages to take part.

Anyone interested in getting involved is invited to go along to the auditions, taking with them a song to sing.

Monthly quiz night

ARCH (Andalucian Rescue Centre for Horses) will be holding its monthly quiz night on Wednesday 4 October at 8pm at Venta Las Alberquillas (Coín/Alhaurín road, next to Autos Arrabali). The quiz costs ¤2.50 per person, with a maximum of six in a team. Money raised goes to fund the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming programme.

On 4, 5 and 6 October the ADANA dog rescue charity will be collecting donations in Carrefour Estepona to mark World Animal Day.

Lux Mundi Torre del Mar

Trip to Alhama de Granada

On Thursday 26 October the Torre del Mar branch of Lux Mundi is organising a trip to Alhama de Granada and Ríofrío. Departing from Algarrobo at 8am, followed by other pick up points in the area, the group aims to arrive at Alhama at around 9.40am. There will be a guided tour of the town, a stop for coffee and then the group will go to Riofrío (famous for its trout farms) for lunch. Tickets are 24 euros. Animals In Distress (AID)

Charity auction

On 13 October at 7pm AID is holding an auction to raise funds. . Anyone with items to enter for sale at the auction, eg. bric-a-brac, furniture etc. should contact the charity at least 24 hours before the auction. Commission is fifteen per cent and will be deducted from the sale of the items. On donated items 100 per cent will go to the animal charity. The sale will be held at La Cuchara Restaurant at the entrance of Polígono Rosa on the A404 Alhaurín el Grande to Coín road. There is plenty of room to park and food and drink available.
