With the end of the holidays in sight, clubs and musical groups are looking for new members to increase their numbers during the autumn and winter seasons.
Coral Coraxalia, based in La Viñuela (Axarquía), are inviting new male and female singers to become members of the choir.
The choir welcomes all nationalities and is well known along the coast for its good repertoire and performances.
The members also hold social events and occasionally go on tour.
Rehearsals take place on Thursdays at 5.30 to 8pm in the Casa de la Cultura in Viñuela village.

La Cala de Mijas Lions Club
The Lions club in La Cala, Mijas, have just celebrated their annual President’s Lunch, another successful event to raise funds which they donate to the local community.

Friends of the Theatre
FOTA as the group is called, is linked to the Salón Varietés theatre in Fuengirola. Members regularly go on organised trips; soon they go to Madrid and then a trip to Seville is planned in December.
In between there are monthly lunches at Casa Rústica and a special dinner to celebrate the first night of the theatre production “South Pacific”.
Halloween Night is celebrated at the Kon Tiki and completing the year’s events are a Summer Ball and Christmas Lunch.

TIMS - The International Music Society
TIMS is a choir which started in 1988. It is well known for its popular Christmas Carol Concerts but TIMS also has an extensive repertoire including classical, popular and light opera music, selections from musicals and film.
New members are always welcome and previous experience and the ability to read music are an advantage but they are not essential; enthusiasm and enjoying singing are much more important.
Although the rehearsals are conducted in English, all nationalities are welcome. Rehearsals take place at 7pm every Wednesday in St Andrew’s Church Hall, Avda Jesús Santos Rein, Los Boliches, Fuengirola.

Friends of Lux Mundi
The Torre del Mar group of friends meet regularly for excursions, walks, coffee and prayer mornings. They also have a Spanish class and photography club.
The ‘Half Orange’ group is especially for single people, widows and widowers, and meets up for coffee and a chat once a month.
