Over 90 voices and 45 orchestral musicians, conducted by Annemarie Philipps, performed music by Mendelssohn, Elgar and Beethoven at the first of three performances of Collegium Musicums spring concert in Fuengirola on Sunday.
The orchestra and choir were joined by the Camerata Singers of Sotogrande as well as soloists Siân Winstanley (soprano) and Juan Carlos Mera-Euler (bass).
This combination of part professional and part amateur instrumentalists and voices, combined with the exacting standards of Annemarie, has produced a performance of such quality that every single participant can be extremely proud of their achievement. The passion of both soloists was evident and the Colombian basss ebullient performance was from the heart, writes enthusiast Morris Bishop.
The last of the three spring performances is on 28 May at 8pm in the Nuestra Señora de la Merced church in Sotogrande.
