Fuengirola hairdressers raise more than 3,000 euros for Cudeca

The Cudeca foundation held their latest fundraising extravaganza in Fuengirola last weekend. Under the banner of 'Hair to Care', a charity hair-cutting session took place in Petro Hair Salon in Los Boliches, and CR Hair Stylist in Fuengirola. Both establishments were kept busy all day and they donated the takings from all wash, cut and blow dries to Cudeca.

Although the proceedings at CR hairdressing salon in Fuengirola were fairly low-key, the staff were kept occupied with a constant flow of customers.

The ambience in Petro, however, was slightly more uplifting. Many people dropped in just for a chat, or to enjoy the fun and entertainment that took place in the salon throughout the day. Others took the opportunity to be pampered by the attentive salon staff, all of whom worked non-stop for more than seven hours.

Customers were entertained by the music of Auralyn Waves, a local acoustic band who performed wonderfully restructured renditions of well-known hit songs.

The glorious sunshine and high temperatures brought a continual flow of people throughout the day and many took advantage of the freshly-prepared mojitos that were on offer. Visitors could also enjoy a selection of cakes and desserts donated by the Tahona Bakery in Los Boliches.

Carlos White, fundraiser for Cudeca, told SUR in English that he was "extremely pleased" with the turnout. "We try to present different events in the hope that people do not get bored with the same old thing. I think this event has been a success and I thank the two salons for taking part and dedicating their time to the project," Carlos said appreciatively.

Baldos Italian restaurant, which is situated across the street from Petro, prepared a huge paella for the event, and all proceedings from this were also donated to Cudeca.

As always, the Cudeca staff and volunteers were on hand with their collection boxes and yellow sunflowers - the charity's emblem - and there was also a prize draw to boost the day's takings.

Carlos White said, "The event raised more than 3,000 euros and so we are absolutely delighted with the outcome. It was a great day and I would like to personally thank Barbara, Gabriela and Mamen for being instrumental in bringing much fun to the event."
