Marbella. The latest technology MRI scanner installed last December at the Marbella Hospital has meant that patients no longer have to wait for an appointment in Malaga.

It allows doctors to use new diagnostic techniques "more comprehensive and faster than conventional methods", explains a representative from the hospital.

" The new machine is more powerful and we can now do more scans, including at the weekends" they added.

The weekend appointments, although they have caused some confusion with patients who have rung the hospital to check if there has been some mistake, have reduced the waiting time considerably for many people. They have also helped patients who are usually at work during the week and only have weekends free.

The new MRI machine was installed last December with a budget of 659,182 euros. The project also included the renovation of the old room for the scanning equipment, conserving some features to keep costs down and to complete the works as quickly as possible which took a month and a half in total.
