  • Lodges in Andalucía have been raising funds for the charity that helps children suffering from butterfly skin disease and their families

At the Masons of Andalucía annual assembly meeting the Grand Master of Spain, Alfonso Ortega, and the Grand Master of Andalucía, Giles Crawford, presented Nieves Montero the president of DEBRA the Butterfly Children Charity, and young sufferer Luis Lima, a cheque for 20,000 euros. This brings the total funds raised by the Masons over two years to 40,000 euros.

All of the 25 Masonic lodges contributed by organising various events in their local areas. On an individual level, Keith Spitalnick ran 1,500km to raise 2,000 euros for the charity.

As they enter the final year of their commitment Giles Crawford remains positive: "We hope to raise a further 20,000 euros increasing our target amount to 60,000 euros." Nieves Montero stressed the significance of the role that the Masons have played in raising awareness of the illness.
