Pilgrimage to ‘El Rocío’ peaks this weekend

Millions of pilgrims, from all over Spain and also from abroad, have been converging this week on the village of Almonte in the province of Huelva, to pay homage to the “Virgen del Rocío”. Travelling often on foot, horseback or in carriages, and sleeping by the wayside, for many it is an annual tradition. The festivities, which started yesterday, continue over the weekend.
