Tony Bryant

...regarding future contracts. "I just love acting, so I don't mind what type of series or film it is, just so long as they have an eat-as-much-as-you-want buffet on set," he added. Lope's mum is hoping a second series will materialise. "I couldn't be

Don't get me wrong

Peter Edgerton

...ensured he got his own way before he disappeared into the simmering heat presumably rejoicing in his perceived little victory. Maybe it's because we've just been shown in no uncertain terms that no matter how much we like to delude ourselves that we're

A gap opening up

Rob Palmer

When they look back at the history book on this La Liga season, it will go down as one of the least notable in decades. The motivation has been to just complete the campaign; but, in truth, it is mainly a year of transition with Real Madrid a littl

How to lose weight and keep it off

TATE MCCLELLAN

...to burn fat only after three to five days of dieting. Even then, however, the body has an array of defensive mechanisms. It tries to protect the status quo by shifting to an "energy-efficient" metabolic regimen, lowering it by as much as 30%. After ... restaurants? In all but name

Mark Nayler

...authorities can avoid the term "austerity" as much as they like, but it's hard to see how the government will be able to honour its costly welfare pledges at the same time as minimising Covid's economic impact.

The virus is still with us

Ángel Escalera

much people want to think that it's all over. Big mistake! The pandemic is more alive than ever; you only have to look at the numbers of dead around the world. It's true that Spain has managed to control the coronavirus and that the situation here ... is much better than in some other countries (especially on the American continent, where SARS CoV-2 is still at its peak). But that does not justify leaving precaution to one side or forgetting that the rate of infection will increase as soon as we ... can't. Whoever says we can is very much mistaken. That's why wearing a face mask is vital.

Terms and conditions

Mark Nayler

Charges of lack of patriotism are suddenly flying around the Spanish parliament, as the country's leading politicians argue about the conditions on which Spain should receive EU grants to help it tackle Covid-19. Which member states receive how much ... and keep it balanced until at least 2040. No wonder, then, that the Socialist government of Pedro Sánchez has set its sights on as much as €140 billion from the EU, around €74 billion of which could be in the form of grants that don't need to be
