Busy week for Customs Officers

In the past week Customs Officers from Gibraltar, working in conjunction with other agencies, have taken part in a number of operations which have resulted in the seizure of a vehicle, a boat, communications equipment and over £17,000 worth of ... cigarettes. Three people have been arrested, two of them Spanish. One was detained after a Customs vehicle gave chase to a car, whose driver only stopped when he collided with scaffolding. The car contained 600 cartons of cigarettes.

Customs officers on a routine patrol in Gibraltar arrested a Spanish man who was carrying a "commercial quantity" of cigarettes on board a boat leaving the Ocean Village marina around midday on Thursday. Cigarette haul confiscated by Customs

Thanks to a sharp-eyed passer-by, the customs authorities in Gibraltar were able to confiscate a large haul of cigarettes from two Spanish-plated vehicles on Tuesday, 20 February.
