High levels of E. coli halts clam catches off Malaga coast

The regional government, the Junta de Andalucía, has closed off an area between Malaga and the Río Vélez to the west of Torre del Mar to certain local clam catches (coquina, concha fina and chirla) after "unusually high levels" of E. coli were found ... to be present in tests carried out on 3 July. Further tests were done on Wednesday to confirm the results. The area, known as And 308, remains closed until further notice.

Schools closed due to stormy weather

Several schools closed and parents were asked to keep their children at home if possible earlier this week when the Rock was hit by gale force winds which brought down scaffolding and tree branches. An investigation is being launched into ... scaffolding which became detached from Ocean Spa Plaza. Rockfall means old N-340 coast road in Torrox will be closed for a month

The old N-340 coast road between Nerja and Torrox will be closed to traffic for the next month after a large rock broke away from the hillside alongside and fell onto the carriageway below on Tuesday afternoon.
