Two senior officials from a locally based international construction firm have been arrested on suspicion of bribery and perverting the course of public justice.

The Royal Gibraltar Police said this week that the arrests followed allegations that in April, during commercial discussions relating to payments for the construction works, a third party was offered 20,000 euros by one of the officials to approve disputed works on a particular project which has a value of around two million pounds.

Both senior officals were interviewed under caution and then released on police bail until 25 August while investigations continue.
