  • Interaction with animals has shown to relieve stress for patients

Some patients in the Sunshine Ward at Ocean Views Mental Health Facility are now enjoying 'Pawsitive Pet Activity', a type of pet therapy. They are visited by two Chihuahuas, Ant and Dec, once a week, and it is hoped to expand the service in the near future.

Interaction with animals has been shown to relieve stress, alleviate pain and improve the overall psychological state.

Ant and Dec's owners offered this service free of charge, and staff say they already see positive results.
