New segregated cycle lanes to be tested in Main Street and Irish Town this summer

  • It is hoped that the scheme will give more people the confidence to try cycling

A pilot scheme for cycling lanes is to be tested in Main Street and Irish Town and is likely to be ready by July. The cycling lanes will be in operation between 7pm and 9.15am on weekdays and 5pm to 9.15am at weekends and on public holidays.

It is hoped that the scheme, which is part of the Sustainable Transport Plan, will give more people the confidence to try cycling, and it will enable children and families to enjoy a bike ride in a protected setting.

Strict cycling rules will be established, and there will be plenty of signs to indicate the direction of travel.
