This year's music festival, MTV Gibraltar Calling 2018, will take place on Friday 21 and Saturday 22 September at the Victoria Stadium. This mega music festival is normally earlier in September, but has been put back slightly because Gibraltar will be hosting FIFA matches at the stadium.

The festival normally takes place on Saturday and Sunday, but this year that has been changed to allow staff, volunteers and the audience to have a day to rest on the Sunday before returning to work on Monday. Anyone who has attended a previous festival will know that it is an amazing, but exhausting experience. As the Minister for Culture, Steven Linares, said this week: Brace yourselves for a fantastic event!

The first tickets went on sale yesterday, 11 January and those booking early can benefit from special 'Early Bird' prices at www.gibraltarcalling.com: A two-day general ticket costs £89, a one day general ticket is £75 and the VIP versions are £359 and £320 respectively. Children aged 12 and under (on 22 September) can go free of charge as long as they are accompanied by an adult ticket-holder and are in possession of a free ticket themselves.

In the next few months there will be regular announcements about the performers at the festival, but as usual there will be global superstars as well as the chance to enjoy local bands and artists.
