Online gambling giant receives record fine

  • The online gambling company has been fined a record £7.8 million

One of the UK’s biggest online gambling firms, 888, which is registered in Gibraltar, has been fined a record £7.8 million by the UK Gambling Commission after an investigation into its social responsibility processes. The commission said it had found significant flaws in these and the company was failing to protect vulnerable customers properly.

A technical failure is thought to be to blame for the fact that thousands of customers who had asked to be blocked from gambling for a certain period, could still access their accounts.
