Officers from the Gibraltar Fire and Rescue Service were called to assist a young man who got stuck while climbing down Europa Point on Tuesday evening.
Several members of the rescue team were deployed, and a rope rescue rig was set up at the top of the Europa Point promenade. The youth, who was unhurt, was lowered together with a fire fighter to the area below and was none the worse for his ordeal.
However, the Fire and Rescue Service is advising people to be very cautious at all times when venturing around Gibraltar. “Climbing or descending cliffs is extremely dangerous and could have very serious consequences,” they said in a statement after Tuesday’s incident.
