The world’s largest cruise ship comes to Malaga
The Oasis of the Sea docks on 11 September. :: SUR
On 11 September the Oasis of the Seas, the world’s largest cruise ship, will arrive in Malaga for a brief layover before returning to base in Barcelona.
This Royal Caribbean cruise liner, (360 metres long, with 16 decks and weighing 100,000 tons), boasts a maximum capacity of 6,360 passengers and comes complete with a spectacular park with over 12,000 natural plants. There’s also a quiet zone inspired by the classic wooden piers - like at Coney Island - that stretch out into the sea, an open-air aquatic theatre suitably equipped for acrobatics, the deepest onboard swimming pool and the first carousel ever to sail the high seas. All this as well as a gym, a spa, shops, 4 swimming pools, 2 surfing simulators and a wide variety of shows and musicals.
The ship will be moored in Malaga’s port on 11 September from 8am until 8pm. However ship spotters won’t have to wait too long to see it again as it will be returning on 25th September. These two moorings will bring in some 800,000 euros to the city, a figure hoped to be repeated in 2015 when two more Royal Caribbean cruises have been scheduled to arrive.
