Javi Gracia named as new Malaga manager

Malaga CF have found a replacement for the outgoing Bernd Schuster as Javi Gracia quits his role at Osasuna to join the Blue and Whites.
Former Malaga player, Marcelo Romero, will be appointed as assistant manager as the team aim to improve on last season’s 11th-place finish in La Liga. The Uruguayan will help Gracia integrate into the club and introduce him to the players and other staff members so as to smoothen the transition.
Gracia will also be joined by physical trainer Juan Solla who previously worked together at Almería.
Javi Gracia, 44, started his playing career at the Athletic Bilbao reserve team as a midfielder and went on take make 229 La Liga appearances, scoring 17 goals.
He started caching in 2004 as Villarreal youth coach. In the 2012/13 season Gracia achieved promotion with Almería to La Liga, however was ousted shortly afterwards.
Last September, he was appointed Osasuna manager. His team were narrowly relegated this season. Gracia is known for his ability to develop a good work rate among players.
