Spanish authorities are awaiting the extradition of 24-year-old model Mayka Marica Kukucova after she handed herself into Slovakian police on Tuesday afternoon.
Andrew Bush, 48, from Bristol, was found dead in the early hours of Saturday morning at his house in Cancelada, Estepona.
His family said they were “over the moon” with the news of Mayka’s arrest.
According to sources, the British millionaire and his latest partner, 20-year-old student Maria Korotaeva, travelled to the property in order to celebrate their five month relationship which started just one month after Bush and Kukucova broke up.
It is believed that the Slovakian had been waiting for days. Bush’s partner allegedly heard two gun shots come from inside the house and then saw Kukucova leave in the Hummer which had only just been used to transport the couple from the airport.
Korotaeva phoned emergency services at 2am as she was unable to gain access to the property. Firefighters and police scaled the outside wall and found the body in a pool of blood with a gun beside it.
A Spanish National Police statement read: “She is the ex-partner of Andrew Bush and has been arrested on suspicion of a consumed intentional homicide.”
Prior to her arrest, the model’s father, Lubomir, protested her innocence: “I believe that if she did shoot him, it was done in self defence. She wouldn’t hurt a fly.”
During the two-year relationship between Bush and his daughter,Lubomir met the businessman numerous times. “I know Andrew, we went to England to see him and he was here with my daughter. We cannot explain what happened; they had a very nice an easy going relationship.”
It had been thought that the Slovakian may have fled to Morocco. However, when she arrived in her home town of Nové Mesto nad Váhom she was persuaded to hand herself in. Spanish authorities are now awaiting for her to be extradited after an International Arrest Warrant has been issued.
Andrew Bush owned a number of jewellery shops in the UK and had a home in Wales, but he spent much of his time at the luxury mansion in Cancelada.
