Once again this year the Ministry of Culture at the Gibraltar Government and the Gibraltar Jazz Society have got together to organise a festival that promises to bring jazz lovers together on the Rock.
The climax of the weekend, which runs from Thursday 17th to Saturday 19th October, will be the performance in Queen’s cinema by Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra. The line-up includes Gilson Lavis, with special guest star Melanie C and guest vocalists Ruby Turner and Louise Marshall.
President of the Gibraltar Jazz Society, George Posso, has described the festival as an “event Gibraltarians want to share with jazz fans everywhere”.
Posso, who will be performing himself with his trio and friends on the opening night, stressed that the festival is not just about performances but also about learning. Professor and composer Dan Moretti will be giving his masterclasses over three days from 14th to 16th October.
