Nerja Town Hall has stepped up its war against noise by closing down for three months a bar/disco which regularly exceeded the set decibel limits and caused disruption to the neighbours. The bar was also fined 6,000 euros.

The bar, which is in Calle Chaparil, had been under survelliance by local authority officials for some time as a result of continued complaints by residents in the area. Despite warning the owners continued to operate at noise levels above those set by the council.

The Town Hall said that it was their responsibility to control noise levels and they would not tolerate deliberate flouting of regulations to the detriment of residents.
