Following the sighting of a shark off Camp Bay on Wednesday, the decision was made to disallow swimming from Gibraltar’s beaches for the rest of the day in the interest of public safety. No further sightings have been reported since then.
In consultation with and based on the advice received from the Marine Section of the Royal Gibraltar Police (RGP) and the Marine Section of the GONHS, normality has now been restored in respect of bathing from all Gibraltar’s beaches.
However, members of the public are being encouraged to be watchful and to report any unusual signs of marine life activity to the beach lifeguards who are exercising extra vigilance.
