Spain still has not woken up to the realities of the recession. I can play golf more cheaply in the UK, and on courses as good as if not better than in Spain.
It would seem that 40/50 euros is considered a good price for a round of golf and then they add buggy hire price so we’re back up to 50/60 euros which is too expensive. I’m a member of Parkston Golf Club in the UK and a guest pays £25 for 18 holes: very good value
Overpriced clubs will wake up when courses start going to the wall - when it’s too late. Spain is going to be hit harder than the rest of Europe, apart from Ireland, so the sooner they get in touch with reality they may get through.
Brits are forecast to have a good summer and that plus the high euro means they will be staying at home: more bad news for Spain. These are points you can make to club owners, if you get a chance to meet them.
