Car theft plummets in Marbella
Vehicles are becoming more difficult to steal.
Car theft has fallen by more than 35 per cent in Marbella so far this year, a figure that has been explained by increased police pressure and the global financial crisis.
It appears that the international criminal organisations that are more often than not behind the theft of vehicles in the area are having problems finding buyers for their goods, even the top of the range models.
The car theft figures also fell in 2008, but not quite so steeply, by around 20 per cent.
Another factor is that vehicles are becoming more difficult to steal, with sophisticated alarms and satellite systems that allow them to be located within hours of being stolen.
