I feel I must write about an incident I was involved in last week. I was driving in Arroyo and I had turned into a one-way street - the bend in the road was quite blind. On entering the street I was confronted by a person on a mobility buggy coming the wrong way down the street.
I missed the person by centimetres, swerving into the curb to avoid the buggy, but the gent behind me was even luckier. He had to contend with wondering what the hell I was doing, missing the buggy also and me!
The incident was witnessed by three young men repairing the pathway.
I have NO qualms with these buggies or the persons who use them but at times certain individuals seem to think it is their God-given right to send cars and other vehicles swerving and pedestrians diving into shop doorways to avoid them.
Do these buggies have to have insurance cover to be out on the street?
What rights would an individual have if they were involved in a more serious incident with them?
This time this person was lucky, but after witnessing the individual before driving very irresponsibly I feel their luck will soon run out!
