Former leading international dancer Seamus Byrne is taking bookings for dance workshops.
Seamus, through his academy MO Productions, is organising the workshops to take place between the 2nd and 4th October 2009 at St Joseph’s School gymnasiums as part of his dance development programme.
The weekend of dance workshops will be conducted by local choreographers and are intended to encourage and motivate young dancers who want to perform on stage. “By organising these workshops we also aim to encourage performers from different dance backgrounds to work together and learn from the different choreographers,” said Seamus, whose company organises the prestigious annual Gibraltar Dance Festival.
‘We are offering a platform, away from the normal daily dancing environment, that will give all participants the opportunity to take part in a new experience that challenges, entertains and inspires them.”This will be enhanced by the passion and excitement that the choreographers will share with each and every person.”
There will be twelve intensive dance classes in various styles during the weekend. Participants will be divided into the age categories: 7 to 11; 12 to 15; and 16 and over. “Open to all, the workshops will be limited to the first fifty dancers to apply in each age division,’ said Seamus; ‘so we are urging all those interested in participating to take advantage of this unique opportunity and register early to avoid disappointment.”
Workshops cost £20 with closing date for entries Friday 25 September 2009, but early booking will ensure a place on what will be a professional-standard training course.
