Since July 2006 some 174,000 drivers in the province have lost points for driving offences. / SUR
From July 1st some 650,000 drivers in the province of Malaga (80% of the total) have 14 points on their licences instead of the original 12.
This is a ‘reward’ from the Government for managing to hold on to all of their points in the three years since the new system was brought in. Since July 2006 some 174,000 drivers in the province have lost points for driving offences. Many of them, especially those who have lost their licences altogether, are taking refresher courses at local driving schools in order to retrieve their permits and get back behind the wheel.
