Bathers find the body of a drowned woman on Benalmádena beach
The victim's body was found on Santa Ana beach on Tuesday. / F. J.
A couple strolling along Santa Ana beach in Benalmádena on Tuesday morning came across the semi-naked body of a woman. While the exact citrcumstances are not known it appears that the woman had drowned. She was around 40 years old but has not yet been identified.
The discovery was made at around 11.30 a.m. when the foreign holidaymakers found the body, dressed only in underwear, lying face down at the shoreline near the Bil-Bil castle. More bathers raised the alarm but attempts by the Civil Protection lifeguard service to resuscitate the woman failed. When the ambulance and health service staff arrived all they could do was certify the woman’s death.
The presence of the Civil Protection volunteers, the Local and the National Police on the beach caused quite a stir on the beach throughout the morning until the body was eventually removed at around 2.15 p.m.
