While having coffee at a pavement cafe in Antequera we were approached by an attractive brunette carrying a clip board. She explained that she was seeking signatures for facilities for the disabled, would we sign her petition. My husband did so willingly and also offered a contribution. No she did NOT want our money only to scan his N I E. This rang a warning bell but very gently as she appeared so respectable. Covering the N I E with the clip board base she smiled and thanked us for helping charity and left.
A Spanish lady on another table called over that we should not involve ourselves as she was after our money, on examining his wallet my husband found his paper money had completely gone.
We immediately informed the police who said they would warn other areas, but held little hope of catching her.
So beware of attractive young ladies with clipboards, and open your wallet for no one.
