Marbella still a frontrunner on the restaurant scene
JAMES HEWITT. At The Polo House, Marbella. / DAVID ANDREWS
Marbella continues to be one of the best culinary hot-spots in Europe. The town offers a wide selection of restaurants to suit every taste and pocket. With the onset of the holiday season, there is a flurry of activity within the exclusive dining establishments that Marbella boasts.
One of the most important events on the social calendar was the inauguration of James Hewitt’s Polo House Marbella Restaurant & Club last night. With more than 500 people on the opening night, the venue, located next to the old Aresbank on the Golden Mile, is set to be top of the list of favourites amongst residents and holiday-makers.
The Polo House Marbella Restaurant & Club is sumptuously decorated and hopes to evoke a colonial ambience with a modern twist. Doors open at 6 p.m. and James’ idea is to offer a “Club House” atmosphere where customers can enjoy a relaxing drink on the terrace before moving on to the refined eating area. Some of the dishes not to be missed are the fresh goose foie-gras, the warm pigeon breast salad and the lobster thermidor as well as a fantastic selection of soufflets. After an exquisite meal, diners can enjoy dancing and leisurely after-dinner drinks until the “wee hours”.
Puerto Banús’ Hotel Lorcrimar has just finished a multi million euro refurbishment programme which includes luxury suites and a roof-top cocktail lounge. To coincide with these improvements, Lorcrimar is proud to announce the opening of their new restaurant with top international chef Jean Christophe Novelli and his team.
Bookings are now being taken for Sunday, April 26th. Dishes to watch are the Costa langoustines; the Seville-orange-glazed duck and Jean Christophe’s speciality - apple tarte tatin.
