Last year the Virgen de la Peña high school in Las Lagunas contacted the Mijas Foreigners Department to ask for help setting up English language conversation classes at the school. “I speak English” was the name of the pilot programme which was so successful that the school has asked the department if the programme can be repeated again this year.

Another school in the area, the Villa de Mijas high school, has also shown interest in the programme, and the department is now looking for British volunteers, or non-native fluent English speakers, to help Mijas school pupils improve their English. The volunteers do not need to speak Spanish. If you would like to become a volunteer, contact the Foreigners Department on 952 589 010, or send an e-mail to: frd@mijas.es
